Common Question: Why can't I just get a regular cleaning? Answer: If you have build up under your gums that is causing pockets to open, food & debris are gathering in the pockets creating calculus to build up. As it gets deeper, it pushes the gum tissue away from the teeth and starts causing the bone to shrink. If you have a "regular" cleaning and the debris is not removed from the root structure, the gum tissue may heal to the tooth and trap all debris & bacteria under the gums. On the surface, your teeth and gums can appear healthy while the bone is shrinking from the root of the tooth. Eventually, your tooth will become loose & have to be extracted. It most cases, it is more harmful to do a regular cleaning than to do no treatment.
Your gums and bone are the foundation for your mouth. You must keep them healthy.
